Ingredients

  • Salmon fish pieces
    4 tablespoons olive oil
    1 onion, finely chopped
    1 tomato, sliced
    4 garlic cloves, chopped
    1 tablespoon ginger paste
1 tablespoon cumin paste or ground cumin
    Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
    Red chili powder- 1tsp
    Water, as needed
    Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
    Salt to taste

Directions

  • How to Clean the Salmon Fish
Rinse the salmon fish pieces under cold running water.
Check for any remaining scales or small bones and remove them if necessary.
Pat the fish dry with paper towels.
If desired, lightly rub the fish with a little salt and rinse briefly.
Drain and set aside before cooking.

How to Cut the Salmon Fish
Place the salmon fillet or whole salmon section on a clean cutting board.
Using a sharp knife, cut the fish into medium-sized curry pieces, approximately 2–3 inches wide.
Keep the pieces uniform in size to ensure even cooking.
Leave the skin on if preferred, as it helps the fish hold its shape during cooking.

    Preparation Before Cooking
    Finely chop 1 onion.
    Slice 1 tomato.
Peel and chop 4 garlic cloves.
    Prepare 1 tablespoon ginger paste.
Prepare 1 tablespoon ground cumin or cumin paste.
Wash and chop fresh coriander leaves for garnishing.
Keep a small amount of water ready for cooking.
  • Directions:
Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion, sliced tomato, and chopped garlic.
Stir and sauté until the onions become soft and translucent.
Add the ginger paste and cumin paste.
Mix well and continue cooking until the vegetables soften and the spices become fragrant.
Add a small amount of water and stir thoroughly.
Cover the pan with a lid and cook until the vegetables are tender and the mixture forms a smooth curry base.
Add the salmon fish pieces and gently mix them into the curry.
Cover and cook until the fish is fully cooked and tender.
Stir carefully to avoid breaking the fish pieces.
Once the curry reaches your desired consistency, sprinkle chopped fresh coriander leaves over the top.
Remove from heat and serve hot.

Notes

  • Salmon has a naturally rich and buttery texture that works exceptionally well in curry dishes.
This curry pairs beautifully with rice, naan, roti, or pulao.
Fresh salmon generally provides the best flavor and texture.
The dish can be adapted to different regional spice profiles and cooking styles.
Salmon curry often tastes even better after the flavors have had time to develop.
