Ingredients

  • Small shrimp – about 10 g (cleaned and deveined)
Olive oil – 3 tbsp (or any cooking oil)
Onion – 1 tsp (finely chopped)
    Garlic – 3–4 cloves (chopped)
    Ginger paste – 1 tsp
Tomato – 1 medium (cut into 4 slices)
    Salt – to taste
    Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
    Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Water – a small amount (as needed)
Fresh coriander leaves – a handful (for garnish)
Bay leaf (babchi, as mentioned in your method) – 1 piece (optional)

Directions

  • Preparation (Before Cooking)
Clean the shrimp properly and remove shells and veins if needed
    Chop garlic into small pieces
    Slice onion finely (small quantity)
Cut tomato into four wedges or slices
Measure all spices and keep them ready
Keep water nearby for cooking adjustment

    Cooking Instructions
    Step 1: Start frying base
Heat a pan and add 3 tablespoons of olive oil
Add bay leaf (or babchi as mentioned) and let it release aroma
Add chopped onion and sauté lightly
Add chopped garlic and mix well
Add shrimp and sprinkle a little salt
Stir well and cook on medium heat

    Step 2: Cook shrimp
Keep cooking until shrimp slowly turns red
Stir occasionally so it cooks evenly
Once shrimp changes color, add ginger paste
    Mix everything well

    Step 3: Add tomato
    Add sliced tomatoes
Stir and cook until tomatoes soften and blend into the mixture
Let it cook until a nice aroma develops

    Step 4: Add spices
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder
Mix everything well so spices coat the shrimp evenly
Add a small amount of water to prevent burning
Stir and cook until oil starts to separate from the mixture

    Step 5: Cover and simmer
Cover the pan with a lid
Let it cook for about 5 minutes on low to medium heat
This helps the shrimp absorb the spices fully

    Step 6: Final cooking
Remove the lid and stir well
Cook until shrimp is fully done and tender
    Adjust salt if needed

    Step 7: Finish
Add fresh coriander leaves on top
Let it sit for a minute so the aroma spreads
