Ingredients

  • 2 kg beef (mixed cuts from different parts)
    3 cups chopped onion
    ½ cup garlic
    3 bay leaves
    8 cardamoms
    4 to 5 cinnamon sticks
    6 to 7 black peppercorns
    1 tablespoon cumin seeds
    Salt to taste
    1 tablespoon turmeric powder
    2 tablespoons red chili powder
    2 tablespoons coriander powder
    2 teaspoons cumin powder
    2 tablespoons ginger paste
    1 cup mustard oil
    2 tomatoes, cut into chunks
    4 green chilies
    Chopped coriander leaves
    Chopped mint leaves
    2 tablespoons mixed spice powder
    2 tablespoons cashew paste

Directions

  • How to Cut the Onion
Peel the onions and chop them into medium-sized small pieces. Do not slice them too thin. You will need about 3 cups of chopped onion.
    How to Cut the Tomato
Wash the tomatoes properly and cut each tomato into medium-sized wedges or chunks.
How to Prepare the Coriander Leaves
Wash the coriander leaves thoroughly and chop them finely.
How to Prepare the Mint Leaves
Wash the mint leaves well and chop them finely.
How to Prepare the Green Chilies
Wash the green chilies and lightly slit them from the middle.
How to Prepare the Cashew Paste
Soak the cashew nuts for a few minutes and blend them into a smooth paste.
    Step 1
Take a large cooking pot because the beef quantity is large.
    Step 2
Wash the beef properly and place it into the pot.
    Step 3
Add the chopped onions and garlic to the beef.
    Step 4
Now add the whole spices, which are bay leaves, cardamoms, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, and cumin seeds.
    Step 5
    Add salt according to taste.
    Step 6
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder.
    Step 7
Add ginger paste and mustard oil.
    Step 8
Mix all the ingredients very well by hand so the spices coat the beef evenly.
    Step 9
Do not add the mixed spice powder yet. It will be added later during cooking.
    Step 10
Cover the beef and let it marinate for about 15 minutes.
    Step 11
After 15 minutes, place the pot on the stove over medium heat.
    Step 12
Add the tomato chunks, green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, and chopped mint leaves.
    Step 13
Stir everything very well so all the ingredients combine nicely.
    Step 14
Do not add any water at this stage. The beef will release its own water while cooking.
    Step 15
Cook the beef on medium to low heat and stir occasionally.
    Step 16
After about 30 minutes, add the mixed spice powder.
    Step 17
Mix everything well again and continue cooking.
    Step 18
Add the cashew paste and stir properly.
    Step 19
The beef should continue cooking in its own released water. No extra water is needed.
    Step 20
Cook until the beef becomes soft and tender.
    Step 21
Keep stirring occasionally so the spices do not stick to the bottom of the pot.
    Step 22
Once the beef is fully cooked and tender, turn off the heat.
    Step 23
Your delicious Qurbani Beef Curry is now ready to serve.
