How to Make Onion Paste: A Kitchen Essential for Flavorful Cooking

Ingredients

  • Onions – 3 to 4 medium-sized (yellow or red onions)
    Water – as needed for blending

Directions

  • Raw Onion Paste
    This method is quick and best for recipes where the paste will be further cooked.
    Peel and chop
    Peel the onions and roughly chop them into small pieces.
    Blend
    Add chopped onions to a blender or food processor.
    Add 2–3 tablespoons of water to help the blending process.
    Grind to a paste
    Blend until you get a smooth, thick paste.
    Store
    Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
    For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays and transfer to a freezer-safe bag.
